Installation
requirements - clearances required:
The minimum headroom clearance between the bottom of the lintel and the ceiling is
360mm (14") and this is necessary if the door roll is to be hidden from outside view.
In cases of reduced headroom, the roll can be fixed lower, however there will be a corresponding reduction in drive-through height and you may see the top of the roll from outside.
There must be 20" backroom clearance (measure from the opening back towards the rear of the garage) to allow the door to be lifted into position and fitted behind the
opening. Check there are no beams or joists within this
area. If there are it may be possible to remove these to
facilitate fitting.
Side clearance required is 130mm for a manual door with standard
40mm aluminium guides.
We can supply special 25mm (1”) galvanised
steel guides if side clearance is between
90mm and 130mm. If you have less than
90mm side clearance it will be necessary
to fit a wooden frame to create the required clearance to fit the
door. If the door is to be remote
control then the distance between the edge of the door
curtain and the inside of the bracket must be at least
40mm, however, for easier access it is
recommended that at least 95mm is allowed
(this is required on the automatic side only).
These guidelines are provided so that you may
assess if your garage is suitable for a roller door. Prior
to ordering we normally recommend that Tilt-A-Dor carries out a
site survey to confirm the order size and suitability. Please
